Sist veke fekk Miljøsenteret besøk av studentar frå Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology (TUMSAT). Dette besøket har blitt ein årleg tradisjon, der studentar og professorar frå studiane Ocean Sciences og Marine Resources and Energy får sjå korleis miljøsenteret og norske bedrifter og forskingsinstitusjonar arbeider med relevante fagområde knytt til hav og kyst. Besøka inngår som del av ein samarbeidsavtale (MoU) mellom TUMSAT og Runde miljøsenter.

Studentane besøkte mellom anna NTNU i Ålesund, Atlanterhavsparken, MOWI i Fosnavåg, Polargodt og Ulstein Verft. Målet med besøket var å gi dei innsikt i korleis ulike verksemder jobbar med teknologi og forsking knytt til hav, ressursforvaltning og energi.

På Miljøsenteret fekk studentane lære meir om senterets forskingsprosjekt på sil og om fangst av makrellstørje rundt Runde, i tillegg til å delta på aktivitetar og oppdage det fascinerande dyre- og plantelivet i området rundt øya.

Besøka gir ikkje berre fagleg utbytte, men styrkjer også kontaktar og to-vegs utveksling mellom institusjonane.

Last week, the Environmental Center was visited by students from the Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology (TUMSAT). This visit has become an annual tradition, where students and professors from the Ocean Sciences and Marine Resources and Energy programs get to see how the Environmental Center and Norwegian companies and research institutions work within relevant fields related to the ocean and coast. The visits are part of a cooperation agreement (MoU) between TUMSAT and Runde Environmental Center.

The students visited, among others, NTNU in Ålesund, Atlanterhavsparken, MOWI in Fosnavåg, Polargodt, and Ulstein Verft. The aim of the visit was to provide them with insight into how different enterprises work with technology and research related to the ocean, resource management, and energy.

At the Environmental Center, the students learned more about the center’s research project on sand eel and the capture of Atlantic bluefin tuna around Runde, in addition to participating in activities and discovering the fascinating animal and plant life in the area around the island.

The visits not only provide academic benefits but also strengthen contacts and two-way exchange between the institutions.
